Youth at key positions prevented the Ballard boys basketball team from posting its fifth-consecutive winning season in 2022-2023. With only two seniors among their regular competitors the Bombers finished 10-13 overall and went 8-8 in the Raccoon River Conference. But Ballard showed flashes of brilliance during the season and finished on a strong note to set the stage for a bright future. "Our effort was good, but our execution wasn't always great," Ballard coach Jeff Schertz said. "The things that need improvement will come with time as our guys get older and more experienced.
